Dermot Mulroney reveals he didn't work for a YEAR after My Best Friend's Wedding
Being second-billed to Julia Roberts did not come without some drawbacks for Dermot Mulroney.
The My Best Friend's Wedding star, 60, admitted to TMZ that he didn't work for a year after the hit 1997 romantic comedy, and he blamed the movie's poster.
'I was sitting there ready for the gift with purchase that was supposed to come along with being in a popular movie, and instead, I probably didn't work for a year,' Mulroney revealed.
My Best Friend's Wedding opened June 20, 1997 at No. 2 in the box office after Batman & Robin, grossing $127 million against a $38 million budget.

'I thought, gosh, you guys, if you'd made me a little bigger, maybe I could have gotten a job,' added Mulroney.
The movie starred Roberts, 56, as food critic Jules, who once made a vow with her best friend Michael (Mulroney) that they'd tie the knot if they were both single by age 28.
When he tells her he's getting married in four days to his newfound love Kimmy (Cameron Diaz), Jules sets out to sabotage the wedding.
The poster for My Best Friend's Wedding featured Roberts over a wedding cake with bride and groom toppers featuring Diaz, 51, and Mulroney's faces.
Mulroney eventually bounced back with 1999's Goodbye Lover, starring alongside Patricia Arquette, Don Johnson, Ellen DeGeneres and Mary-Louise Parker.
The actor has continued his romantic comedy career with such titles as The Wedding Date, Must Love Dogs (both 2005), and most recently, last year's Anyone But You with Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell.
The movie also reunited Mulroney with My Best Friend's Wedding co-star Rachel Griffiths.

In 2019, he reunited with co-stars Roberts, Diaz, 51, and co-star Rupert Everett for the cover of Entertainment Weekly.
'I liked that he was the lead in the movie and Julia Roberts liked him,' he explained of the role.
'I liked those, like, obvious elements, but he had his own little story. He was a sportswriter and he was in love in ways that many people still argue with me about.
